Spencer medical facility to expand after fund injection

SPENCER — Cabarrus Rowan Community Health Center (CRCHC) announced last week that the organization received funding from the Cannon Foundation to expand the Northern Rowan Family Medicine location in Spencer.

Northern Rowan Family Medicine serves patients living in rural areas of Rowan County. With a commitment to providing comprehensive and compassionate care, the clinic offers a wide range of services designed to meet the diverse health needs of the community. From routine check-ups and preventive care to managing chronic conditions, Northern Rowan Family Medicine ensures that every patient receives personalized attention.

CRCHC received $125,000 from the Cannon Foundation bringing the organization’s fundraising support from federal, state, and private funders for the Northern Rowan Expansion Project to over $800,000. The groundbreaking is set for October and will add 2,366 square feet to increase access to medical, mental health and pharmacy services.

CRCHC’s CEO Don Holloman expressed his gratitude for the generous support from The Cannon Foundation and other contributors.

“This funding is a significant step towards realizing our vision of a healthier community,” Holloman said. “We are committed to providing comprehensive care that meets the diverse needs of our patients.”

The organization acknowledges the unique challenges faced by individuals in rural areas and strives to offer accessible and convenient healthcare services to everyone.

“This expansion is not just about adding square footage; it’s about enhancing the quality of life for our residents,” said Miriam Santana, lead site coordinator of Northern Rowan Family Medicine. “With the increased capacity, we can serve more individuals, reduce wait times, and offer a broader range of services.”

Cabarrus Rowan Community Health Centers, Inc. (CRCHC) is a community-based nonprofit organization founded in 2003 and dedicated to positively impacting the health of the community. CRCHC serves more than 15,000 patients annually by providing quality medical, dental, and behavioral health services, without regard for a patient’s ability to pay, and serves as a community resource for eliminating health disparities.
