Cookeville Boys Basketball Coach Josh Heard Resigns
Fresh off a Class 4A state championship game appearance, the Cookeville Cavaliers will be searching for a new head coach as Joshua Heard resigned on Monday. Heard coached 5 seasons with the Cavaliers and led them to the program’s first region championship and state championship game appearance in 2024, where they finished runner-up behind champion Independence.

It’s called a Diverging Diamond Interchange (or DDI for short) and the first DDI in middle Tennessee opened at the end of May in Spring Hill on Interstate 65 at June Lake. Two Men Arrested, Charged in Shooting of THP Trooper Adam Cothron
Press Release from TBI: At the request of 13th Judicial District Attorney General Bryant Dunaway, TBI special agents began investigating the Friday evening shooting, which occurred in the area of I-40 East at Exit 286 in Putnam County. Investigative efforts revealed the trooper stopped a white Kia Forte, with a temporary tag, driven by Timothy Laquan Davis, Jr. (DOB 7/9/1999). As the trooper approached the vehicle, the driver fired upon him, critically wounding him. At the time of this release, the trooper remained hospitalized in Nashville.
FAFSA Clinics Next Week Supporting UC Families
The Tennessee Higher Education Commission is offering free FAFSA clinics to give Upper Cumberland families hands-on support while applying for federal student aid. Senior Outreach Director Jason Seay said they have always had FAFSA workshops at high schools and colleges throughout the state but families need more support this year. Seay said last year’s revamping of the system has led to technical issues and some parental concerns.
