Roane County General Hospital receiving multi-million dollar renovations

SPENCER, WV (WOWK) — The Roane County General Hospital is upgrading its facilities through a multi-million dollar renovation project.

The hospital, which is located in Spencer, is Roane County`s largest employer. The multi-phase renovation project comes with a $5.4 million dollar price tag and will address certain needs that became more apparent during the Covid-19 pandemic.

“We’re committed to serving our community and the community needs, we feel, being independent, we can best do that more so than someone from Charleston, someone from Morgantown or even Huntington. Local control. We understand our local needs,” said Roane General Hospital CEO Doug Bentz.

Some key components of the project include the installation of fiber connections in all rooms, roof and flooring replacement as well as lighting updates.

Construction is expected to begin in 2025.
