DeVries hopeful timing of Italy trip works in Mountaineers’ favor
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — One week from today, West Virginia’s men’s basketball program will face outside competition for the first time under head coach Darian DeVries. The Mountaineers head to Italy on Wednesday and play their first of three games overseas August 3 at 12:30 p.m. ET against BC Zaligiris Kaunas-2 in Genoa.
Cam Fallon continuing to grow during the summer
PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - Cam Fallon has enjoyed a productive summer on the links. The Parkersburg South junior golfer is coming off a first place finish in the Boys 15-16 Division at the Callaway Junior Tour’s last stop at the Greenbrier Sporting Club. That win was his third of the year. He also placed third in the West Virginia Junior Amateur Championship earlier this month. Cam even qualified for the West Virginia Amateur Golf Championship back in May. He is happy with how well he’s performed and how comfortable he’s been on the courses these last few months.
WVU alumni help Canadian women's soccer team to another Olympic win amidst scandal
West Virginia women's soccer alumni Kadeisha Buchanan and Ashley Lawrence helped Canada keep their hopes alive to defend their 2020 Olympic gold medal on Sunday. Canada met host nation France in the second of three schedule group stage matchups for Canada. While a scandal surrounds the Canadian organization regarding spying on an opponents' practice with a drone, they didn't let it distract them too much as they rallied themselves to a 2-1 victory over France. Buchanan and Lawrence both logged a full 90 minutes of play during the matchup.

Women’s basketball’s Sydney Shaw looks to make impact in first year
WVU Women’s Basketball junior guard Sydney Shaw spoke to media members alongside senior guard JJ Quinerly and junior guard Jordan Harrison after an open practice. Shaw averaged 6.6 points per game in her sophomore season at Auburn. She said that she looks forward to playing in Head Coach Mark Kellogg’s system at WVU.

2027 DE Anthony Sweeney from Olney (Md.) Good Counsel receives a scholarship offer from West Virginia, adding to his list of offers after standing out at a big man camp. Sweeney, at 6-foot-4 and 210 pounds, has received offers from schools like Florida, Miami, and Maryland. The offer from the Mountaineers was particularly exciting for him, coming right after the camp.

Hunter Giacomo: George Washington LB Discusses WVU Walk-On Offer & Academic Plans
Hunter Giacomo, a linebacker from George Washington High School, received a preferred walk-on (PWO) offer from WVU despite not growing up as a fan of the team. Giacomo, in the class of 2025, impressed with 104 tackles, two sacks, and two interceptions, showcasing his skills during summer visits and camps. Although he was not initially a WVU fan, the in-state offer holds significance for him. Giacomo is considering academic scholarships that could potentially cover most or all of his schooling costs at WVU.
