Argument leads to drive-by shooting in east Spokane

SPOKANE, Wash. -- A Spokane man was arrested for drive-by shooting and assault on Sunday, according to Spokane Police Department.

On June 29 just before midnight, SPD responded to a reported shooting at a home near Jackson Avenue and Haven Street in east Spokane.

When they arrived, officers learned an argument had broken out between the families of 23-year-old Harlen N. Cariss and his girlfriend.

According to SPD, the argument was over Cariss' alleged assault of his girlfriend.

Cariss and his girlfriend's father were arguing outside the home when Cariss fired a gun and then left in his car.

No one was injured. SPD also said two young children were in the house during the shooting.

Cariss was arrested on June 30 and booked into Spokane County Jail for assault, drive-by shooting, interfering with reporting of domestic violence and reckless endangerment.

His bond is set at $250,000.
