SPOKANE, Wash. - The City of Spokane is getting an $8 million grant to turn some spaces into Community Resilience Hubs during extreme weather.

The grant will allow the city to install solar panels and battery back-up at the West Central Community Center, Northeast Community Center, Central Public Library, and Liberty Park Library.

It's part of a collaborative $19.9 million grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to the Spokane Climate Resilience Project to support disadvantaged communities.

Funds are expected to come in over the next few months.

The grant allows the work to be done over the next three years.
