    Cemetery Fire stops spreading in Spokane

    SPOKANE, Wash. - UPDATE, July 26 9:47 p.m.:

    Fire officials confirmed the Cemetery Fire off Government Way in Spokane has stopped spreading.

    UPDATE, July 26 8:23 p.m.:

    The State Fire Marshal will be giving assistance to the local firefighters working on the Cemetery Fire off Government Way in Spokane.

    A strike team has been ordered to help with containment efforts on the fire.

    The Cemetery Fire started just before 5 p.m. Friday. As of the last update, the fire is 50 acres with no containment.

    The fire is burning in timber and brush. It is currently threatening 546 structures and homes in the area.

    The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

    UPDATE, July 26 7:40 p.m.:

    The Department of Natural Resources said multiple air and ground units are working on the Cemetery Fire off Government Way in Spokane.

    The fire is estimated to be around 50 acres. As of the last update, there is no containment.

    UPDATE, July 26 6:35 p.m.:

    Spokane County Evacuation maps are showing Level 2 (Be Set) evacuations are in place for the brush fire off Government Way in Spokane.

    Evacuations are for the Greenwood Memorial Terrace area north of Indian Canyon Golf Course.

    Spokane County Emergency Management said people living West to North Rimrock Drive, east to North Government Way, south to West Greenwood Road and north to West Sandridge Avenue extended should be prepared to leave at a moment's notice.

    Government Way is currently closed from Greenwood Road to Whistalks Way.

    Firefighters are responding to a brush fire off Government Way in Spokane.

    The Department of Natural Resources said there are multiple ground resources assigned to the fire, including five engines and air support on the way.

    Spokane County Fire District 9 said the fire is about 5 acres.
