Apartment fire forces T's Lounge to shut its doors

SPOKANE, Wash. - A downtown Spokane bar is currently closed due to a fire that happened Wednesday evening.

The fire happened on the second floor of an apartment building north of the Monroe Street Bridge.

Now, the owner of T's Lounge directly underneath where the fire happened, is trying to figure out what's next.

Customers were inside the bar when the fire started but were able to evacuate without injuries.

The owner said the bar was flooded by water used to put out the fire.

"It looked like a waterfall in here," said owner Jay Brown. "There's water dripping off all the rafters and coming down the walls. Just a very wet environment unfortunately."

Brown has only owned the bar for three months.

He said he's relieved it wasn't much worse, considering the building is over a century old.

Brown said he hopes to re-open later this week after cleaning up.
