    Spring sports off and running! Here’s results, what is coming up

    SPOONER– Following some postponed and canceled contests due to a late season snowstorm, spring sports in the area are back on track and going strong this week.

    BaseballSpooner: The Spooner boys are currently off to a 3-3 start. On Thursday, April 11, they took a close 5-4 home loss against Northwestern. On Friday, April 12, the Rails suffered another 1-run defeat, falling at home 2-1 to Cameron.

    This week, Spooner played a Tuesday game at Ashland. On Thursday, April 18, the Rails will host Hayward. On Friday, April 19, Spooner travels to St. Croix Falls.

    Northwood/Solon Springs: The Evergreens currently lead the Lakeland East and have a 3-0 record. On April 8 they defeated Superior 4-2. Tuesday, April 9, NWSS topped Cornell/Lake Holcombe 7-0. On Thursday, April 11, they downed Clear Lake 14-4.

    This week, they had a Tuesday game at Flambeau. On Thursday, April 18, they team will host Birchwood/Winter at Solon Springs.

    Shell Lake: Shell Lake is currently 0-3 in the Lakeland West Conference. On Tuesday, April 9, the Lakers fell 10-0 at Grantsburg. On Thursday, April 11, they hosted Unity, falling 10-7.

    This week they played Tuesday at Clayton/Turtle Lake. On Thursday, April 18, the Lakers will play at Luck/Frederic.

    Softball

    Spooner: Currently, the Spooner Rail girls are 2-3. On Tuesday, April 9, the Rails defeated Chetek/Weyerhaeuser 6-0. Thursday, April 11, they fell 8-2 at Northwestern. On Friday, April 12, the Rails were beaten 4-3 at Cameron.

    This week, Spooner hosted Northwood/Solon Springs on Monday, April 15. On Tuesday, April 16, they hosted Ashland. Thursday, April 18, the Rails are on the road at Hayward. Friday, April 19, they come back home to host St. Croix Falls.

    Northwood/Solon Springs: The Evergreens are currently 2-1 in the Lakeland East. Tuesday, April 9, they took a 14-6 win over Cornell/Lake Holcombe. Thursday, April 11, they topped Clear Lake 5-3. On Friday, April 12, NWSS fell 8-2 to Chequamegon.

    This week, they played at Spooner on Monday, April 15. On Tuesday, April 16, they were at Flambeau. Thursday, April 18, NWSS hosts Birchwood/Winter.

    Shell Lake: The Lakers are currently 2-4 in the Lakeland West. On Thursday, April 11, at Woodside, they beat Unity 16-6. Friday, April 12, again at Woodside, they lost 13-2 to Random Lake, and 7-4 to Brillion. At Woodside on Saturday, April 13, they fell 12-7 to Roncalli.

    This week, on Monday, April 15, Shell Lake played at Clayton/Turtle Lake. On Thursday, April 18, the Lakers play at Frederic/Luck. On Saturday, April 20, they play at Colfax.
