SPOONER — Proud parents, relatives and friends of four Spooner High School students anxiously took their seats in the SHS auditorium on Wednesday, April 10. It was an exciting day for the families, as well as for the four Spooner Rails athletes who crossed the stage and took their seats at a table at center stage.

On stage with them was coach Josh Tischer and Athletic Director Matt Lucius.

It was Signing Day, as the four excited Spooner Rails seniors picked up a pen, signed their names and took the first big step into their collective futures.

Sevanna Burke, the daughter of Karri and Christopher Burke, Trego, will attend the University of Minnesota-Duluth, competing in track and field for the Bulldogs.

Luke Popp, the son of Ben and Megan Popp, Springbrook, signed his letter of intent with St. Scholastica, where he will compete in cross country.

Hannah Hutton, the daughter of Mallery Rapple and stepfather Andrew Rapple, Spooner, signed to compete in track and field for the Spartans at the University of Wisconsin-Superior.

Mason Schultz, attending with Uncle Nick Englund and Aunt Michele Englund, Spooner, became a University of Minnesota Morris Cougar with his signature on a letter of intent. He will compete in track and field.
