    Evergreen boys wrap up 17-0 win over New Auburn

    MINONG — Bringing 17 runs across home plate on April 30 in Minong, the Northwood/Solon Springs (NWSS) baseball team defeated New Auburn 17-0 in 5 innings.

    The Evergreens scored 2 runs in the bottom of the first inning, 4 in the second, 5 in the third and 6 in the fifth to put the game well out of reach and get the win.

    Evergreens getting RBIs in the game included Jared Schultz (4), Tristan Groski (2), Owen Taylor (2), Tarver Sellwood (2) and Isaiah Ahlberg (2). Schultz belted a sacrifice fly for the team.

    Stolen bases were collected by Isaiah Ahlberg (3), Dylan Taggart (3),and Blaise Kidder.

    Several Evergreens shared pitching duty for NWSS. Isaiah Ahlberg pitched the win, going 2 innings, allowing 0 hits and 0 runs, walking 0 and striking out 6. Sellwood pitched 1 inning, striking out 2, Taggart pitched 1 inning, striking out 2, and Abraham Ahlberg pitched 1 inning, striking out 3.

    The win kept Northwood/Solon Springs unbeaten on the season. Currently, the Evergreens are 9-0.

    On Thursday, May 9, the Evergreen boys play at Birchwood/Winter at 5 p.m.
