Shell Lake hanging baskets will soon adorn the city

SHELL LAKE — Soon, Shell Lake’s Main Street and beach lampposts will be adorned with gorgeous hanging baskets from Yellow River Gardens. Linda Berger has been planting and nurturing the wave and super-petunias since February. Shell Lake’s city crew will hang the baskets around Memorial Day, weather-permitting.

The Shell Lake Lions Club has teamed up with the City of Shell Lake for the past 14 years. The cost is covered completely by donations.

People wishing to donate can give a tax-deductible contribution of $90 for a full basket or $45 for a half basket. Donors should indicate whom the flowers are in memory of, in honor of or given courtesy of a person, organization or business. Posters downtown and a press release will list all of the remembrances.

Checks can be made payable to the Shell Lake Lions Flower Fund and mailed to P.O. Box 520, Shell Lake, WI 54871. They can also be dropped off at City Hall by Friday, May 31.
