Shell Lake Volleyball Camp gives girls preview of season

SHELL LAKE — As the final days of a hot and humid July melted away, thoughts of the coming fall sports seasons were already on the minds of some area high school athletes, from football, soccer and volleyball players to golfers, to cross-country runners and others trying to get into shape for the season.

At Shell Lake last week, the girls were busy shaking off the summertime rust and getting back into shape at the three-day Shell Lake Volleyball Camp July 22-24. Coaches and players went through drills, working on technique and timing and stamina. They also worked on building team chemistry and a winning attitude, important parts of any successful team.

The girls, coaches and fans hope the camp experience will serve them well in coming weeks as the Lakeland Central Conference season draws near. The Laker girls open their 2024 schedules on Thursday, Sept. 5, as they host Clear Lake.
