    Town & Country Days this weekend

    SHELL LAKE - Celebrate the end of summer Labor Day weekend at Shell Lake’s 45th-annual Town & Country Days festival Friday through Sunday, Aug. 30-Sept. 1.

    The Shell Lake Chamber of Commerce invites city and country folk into town for several family-friendly events over the weekend.

    Buttons can be purchased to cover admission to all events. A drawing will be held on Facebook Live at the end of the festival. A limited number of VIP buttons are available.

    Kick off the fun on Friday with the craft fair at the pavilion grounds from 3 to 8 p.m. The Shell Lake Lions Club will have their Lake Superior Whitefish Fry at the Community Center from 4 to 7 p.m. The food court opens at 5 p.m. in the center’s parking lot. At 7 p.m., the Truck Pull begins (registration is at 6 p.m.).

    Saturday, the Drive-in/Walk-in/Fly-in Breakfast will be held at the airport, hosted by the Lake Point Aero Club, from 7:30 to 11 a.m. The Lake Run and Fasted Kids Race gets underway at 8 a.m. There is a 5K and a 9-mile run/walk around the lake, starting in front of the Police Department. The Fastest Kids Race is a 40-yard dash following the main race, with awards given in all divisions for the races. The proceeds benefit the Lakeland Family Resource Center in Spooner.

    A 3V3 basketball tournament begins at 9 a.m. at the Shell Lake High School gyms.

    The Shell Lake Public Library will hold a book sale in the pavilion from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and the craft fair opens back up at that time, running until 4 p.m.

    The food court will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

    A volleyball tournament gets underway at 10 a.m. at Rae’s Bar & Grill.

    The Washburn County Historical Society will have its Chocolate Fest from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the museum.

    The Tom Scott Memorial Regatta, hosted by the Shell Lake Sailing Club, begins at 1 p.m., with a captain’s meeting at noon prior; meet at Shell Lake Marine.

    The Kid’s Pedal Tractor Pull begins at 1 p.m. at the walking track.

    From 1 to 3 p.m., family bingo will be played in the Community Center.

    Dean-o-Mite will have kids entertainment t from 3 to 6 p.m., interactive fun at the pavilion with singing and dancing.

    At 5 p.m., the Dairyland Garden Tractor Pull begins, with DJ entertainment by Cruisin’ Tunes (Bob Forsythe) at the pavilion from 6 to 8 p.m. Bring a lawn chair to this free event.

    Sunday, the craft fair reopens from 9 a.m to 4 p.m. A community worship service will be held at 10 a.m. at the pavilion; bring a lawn chair or blanket.

    From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the food court is open.

    The Tractor Pull begins at 11 a.m., followed by the Kiddie Parade at noon on Main Street and the Grand Parade at 12:30 p.m. Afterward, check out the car show at 2 p.m. on Main Street., with classic cars, hot rods, custom vehicles, motorcycles, antique tractors and more.

    Family bingo continues after the parades, and the button door prize winners will be announced at 4:15 p.m. on Facebook and in-person at the Community Center.
