    Come on home to the Fair

    SPOONER — “Come on home” to the 112th-annual Washburn County Junior & Open Fair Thursday through Sunday, July 25-28, at the Washburn County Fairgrounds in Spooner.

    The fair is a competitive platform for open and youth exhibitors, along with safe and fun entertainment for all ages.

    The carnival opens on Thursday evening, with the gymkhana horse show at 6 p.m. The Shell Lake Arts Center will have a performance at 6:15 p.m., followed by The Dweebs performing at 7 p.m.

    Friday, veterans receive free admission with a military ID. There will be a Veteran’s Program at 4 p.m.

    Friday is also Drive Your Tractor to the Fair Day.

    Live music will be provided by The Memories at 4:30 p.m. and the Chad Edwards Band at 6:30 p.m. The Kiddie Tractor Pull begins at 7 p.m.

    Saturday, Pickles the Clown will entertain children with balloon animals in the pavilion from noon to 4 p.m. Layne Yost will perform at 4:30 p.m., followed by the Otis Plum Experience at 7 p.m. The Show & Sale Auction for farm animals begins at 6 p.m.

    Sunday, Oasis Ministries will provide a church service at 10 a.m. Whips and Wheels, a driving competition for people who have horses or ponies trained to drive, begins at 10 a.m., and the Veggie 500 Race at 11 a.m.

    The car show will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

    People are encouraged to join the Talent Show to win cash prizes. The show will be held at 1:30 p.m.

    Exhibits will be ongoing throughout the fair by 4-H groups, FFA, school and other youth organizations. There is an open class, as well. Sign up online at washburncountyfair.com.

    The 2024 Fairest of the Fair will also be crowned this weekend.
