Mariners Are Fit For Superstar Slugger, Former MVP In Blockbuster Trade

There isn't much time left until the 2024 Major League Baseball trade deadline.

The deadline is just over a week away and it's clear that the Seattle Mariners are going to be active. Seattle currently is tied with the Houston Astros for the American League West and if it isn't able to win the division, still is firmly in the mix for an American League Wild Card spot.

Seattle has a plethora of great, young pitching and has a real chance of making some noise down the stretch this season. While this is the case, the Mariners need some help on offense quickly. Most of the Mariners' success has come from the starting rotation and if the offense could follow suit, they could do some damage.

There will be many options out there for the Mariners this summer and one player who was mentioned as a possible fit is Chicago Cubs superstar slugger Cody Bellinger, according to ESPN's Jesse Rogers.

"If the Chicago Cubs fall much farther back, they could decide to trade Cody Bellinger -- assuming there is a market for him as he has two player option years left at $30 million per year and is on the (Injured List) with a broken finger," Rogers said. "The Seattle Mariners and New York Yankees could both be interested in Bellinger for different reasons: Seattle can't hit and New York is banged up. As a former MVP, Bellinger would be the biggest name if he goes somewhere, but (Garrett Crochet) is more likely to be dealt."

Bellinger currently is on the Injured List, but he could be the exact type of slugger the Mariners need if he can return to the field soon. Bellinger could help in the outfield or at first base and was slashing .269/.331/.410 with nine home runs and 37 RBIs before going down with his injury. That is the type of production the Mariners need.
