NFL analyst proposes surprising three-team trade that includes Giants

With the preseason starting up Thursday night for the New York Giants , the roster decisions will begin to take shape.

Sometimes, trades can be struck at the end of the preseason as teams begin the process of cutting down the roster to 53 players.

In an attempt to forecast some potential trades before the rosters are cut, Seth Walder of ESPN put together a surprising three-team proposal that includes the Giants.

Unfortunately, the trade wouldn't help Big Blue in the slightest.

Walder proposed a three-team deal between the Giants, New Orleans Saints and Chicago Bears. The Saints would receive offensive tackle Larry Borom from Chicago while the Giants send edge rusher Azeez Ojulari to the Bears in exchange for the Saints' 2025 fifth-round pick .

While Ojulari has declined in each season since his stellar rookie campaign due to injuries, it wouldn't be worth it to give up their No. 3 edge rusher for a pick that they hope would turn into a special teams contributor one day.

The value of having Ojulari as a depth piece on the defensive line far outweighs the slight chances of hitting on a mid-Day 3 pick.

A reduced role might even benefit Ojulari somewhat. The arrival of star Brian Burns and the expected development of Kayvon Thibodeaux could give Ojulari a bit less pressure to deal with as a sub-package edge rusher.

The Giants need all the help they can get with the pass rush this season so it wouldn't be a wise move to ship off Ojulari for a future Day 3 pick.
