Red Sox first baseman Triston Casas is almost back to top form

Boston Red Sox first baseman Triston Casas has been tearing it up in his rehab assignment with the Sox’s Triple-A affiliate, the Worcester Red Sox.

In the six games he has played, he has procured 23 at-bats. In those at-bats, he is swinging for a  .304 average, .407 on base percentage, .522 slugging, and .929 on base plus slugging.

He has also gotten five doubles, four RBI, and three walks. He has only struck out 9 times. In his last five games, he has had at least one hit. His first game is the only one where he went hitless.

Casas is a great power bat for the Sox, as when he was playing this season before his injury, he was looking like he would be a key piece of the Sox offense. He was hitting .244 with six home runs and 10 RBI in 22 games. If he had kept playing, Casas was on track for nearly 50 home runs, as long as everything went perfectly and he kept his pace.

With a bat like that, the Sox definitely would have a few more wins under their belts, and they would be firmly in the Wildcard race. With this in mind, hopefully Casas returns soon and brings that big bat with him.
