Carolina Panthers' night went from bad to worse after losing preseason game to Patriots

The Carolina Panthers have had a rough 12+ hours.  We should preface everything by saying that everyone is okay, thankfully, but it was a frightening and nerve-wracking night.

It started with a 17-3 loss to the New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium in the team's opening preseason game.  The Panthers mustered a fourth-quarter field goal, but beyond that, it was not a positive night of football.

Then, the team boarded a Delta flight to get back to Charlotte. Charlotte was getting hit with a deluge of rain from the remnants of Hurricane Debby.

According to Ari Melrov , the team's Delta flight "slid off the taxiway and into the mud at Charlotte Douglas International Airport early Friday morning."

The Panthers have over a week to recover from their rough night.  The team's next preseason game is scheduled for August 17 when they host the New York Jets at 7 PM ET.
