Barcelona have completed a major transfer swoop to bring Dani Olmo back to the the club in a €60m ($65m) move from RB Leipzig.

The Catalan giants have focused on two of Spain's Euro 2024 winning squad in recent weeks, with Olmo pursued alongside La Roja teammate Nico Williams.

However, with the latter expected to reject a move away from Athletic Bilbao, Barcelona concentrated their efforts on Olmo.

Despite RB Leipzig's determination to keep the versatile 26-year-old in Germany, the pull of returning to his homeland was too strong, and Barcelona have acquired their key target.

    Olmo back 'home' with Barca

"I'm really looking forward to get started. These have been intense days of talks, but everything has been done very quickly and I will be grateful to RB Leipzig for life. Now, I'm going all out in this new stage" he stated in a first interview with Barcelona's club channels.

"Barca pushed to bring me back here and that's something to be appreciated. I'm proud Barcelona want me and that I'm here. Now we have to win trophies, because we are Barca and we have to compete for everything,"

Olmo graduated through Barcelona's famed La Masia academy from 2007 to 2014, but with his first-team chances blocked by Pep Guardiola's all-conquering side, he accepted a move to Dinamo Zagreb, without making a first team appearance.

Solid progress in Croatia saw him grab the attention of RB Leipzig, and he joined the Bundesliga side in 2019, winning two DFB Pokal titles at the Red Bull Arena.

Barcelona face AS Monaco in the Joan Gamper Trophy on August 12, in their final preseason game, and Olmo is expected to be revealed to the home crowd before kickoff at the Estadi Olímpic Lluis Companys.
