Los Angeles Chargers late-round rookie has chance to seize moment in preseason

The Los Angeles Chargers will open their preseason slate on Saturday night against the Seattle Seahawks at SoFi Stadium.

Fans can expect to see a lot of players on the back end of this roster in this game and though many of the spots on the final 53-man roster could already be locked up , there are many more yet to be decided. One of the main players to keep an eye on is wide receiver Brenden Rice.

Rice has looked great in training camp so far and if he continues that into the preseason, he could lock up a roster spot as well.

Brenden Rice is making his case for a spot on the roster

At this point, it would probably be a surprise if Rice was left off the 53-man roster, but that is not usually the case for players taken in the seventh round of the draft before any preseason games have been played.

Of course, Rice is not your typical seventh-round pick. He is the son of the legendary Jerry Rice and fell way down the draft board in April despite several analysts having as high as a fourth-round grade on him. Now, the USC product has a chance to make a lot of teams regret passing on him.

There is a belief that Rice could earn a spot in the top four wide receivers on the depth chart. That would shake things up for someone like Quentin Johnston or D.J. Chark.

Keep an eye on No. 82 on Saturday night.
