Manchester United fans would be wondering why Aaron Wan-Bissaka hasn't traveled with the squad for their Community Shield match against Manchester City. The right-back, who played a key role in United's FA Cup final against City in May, was nowhere to be seen with the Red Devils this time around.

The reason behind Wan-Bissaka’s absence is tied to advanced negotiations between Manchester United and West Ham United. Both clubs are close to finalizing a deal that would see the 26-year-old defender move to the London Stadium on a permanent basis. Talks have been ongoing for weeks, and it appears that a resolution is imminent.

According to Sky Sport Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg , both clubs are in regular contact and expect to seal the agreement shortly. A medical examination is planned for the next three days, after which Wan-Bissaka is set to sign a contract with West Ham until 2030. The personal terms of the deal were reportedly agreed upon as early as August 1st.

Wan-Bissaka’s performance in the FA Cup final against City was one of his standout moments last season, but with his transfer to West Ham nearly complete, Manchester United opted to leave him out of the squad for the Community Shield.

    United’s plans for reinvestment

Manchester United have been patiently waiting for Wan-Bissaka's transfer to go through, as the funds from his sale will be crucial in securing a replacement. Reports suggest that United have their eyes on Bayern Munich’s Noussair Mazraoui as the ideal successor at right-back.

With the Premier League season set to kick off next Friday, United are eager to wrap up any final deals, including bringing in Mazraoui, before their opening match against Fulham at Old Trafford. The club’s priority is to ensure that they are fully prepared for the challenges of the new season.

Meanwhile, Wan-Bissaka's move to West Ham marks the end of his time at Old Trafford, where he has been a solid presence in defence since joining from Crystal Palace in 2019.
