NBA stars, more react to Stephen Curry's gold medal performance vs. France: 'Steph went into God Mode'

The USA was heavily favored to take home gold at the 2024 Olympics, and they were able to do it with a 98-87 win over France in the gold-medal game.

It wasn't an easy finish, however. Despite leading by a maximum of 14 points, Team USA found itself up just three over the host nation with three minutes left to play in the game. It needed a strong finish to put away Victor Wembanyama squad to extend its gold medal-winning streak at the Olympics to five.

Steph Curry made sure that happened in the finale at his first — and potentially, last — Olympics.

Curry scored 12 of the USA's final 16 points to help them close out a win over France. He made his final four 3-point shots to finish the game with a team-high 24 points.

Curry shot just 5-of-20 from 3-point range over Team USA's first four games, but he went a combined 17-of-27 in the squad's close wins over Serbia and France. He was the driving force behind those victories, alongside LeBron James, and garnered legitimate MVP consideration for the tournament after his sharpshooting display.

James ultimately was named the tournament's MVP, but Curry still earned plenty of flowers for his performance. That included many congratulations from NBA talents who watched him carry the United States over the finish line to win its fifth consecutive gold medal in men's Olympic basketball.

Many All-NBA talents weighed in on Curry's stellar finish to his first-ever Olympics, but Josh Hart's post to social media perfectly captured how many Americans felt watching Curry's endgame moves against France.

"Steph went into God Mode," Hart wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Also notable was Manu Ginobili's praise of Curry. Ginobili was a part of the Argentina team that famously upset Team USA to win gold at the 2004 Olympics. Curry's performance guaranteed Argentina would remain the most recent, non-USA gold medal winner in men's basketball for at least another four years.

Jalen Brunson, DeMar DeRozan, and Donovan Mitchell were among the many NBA stars who praised Curry's stellar finish. Below are some of the most notable reactions to his 24-point outburst.

And several athletes across the sports world — including WNBA MVP favorite A'ja Wilson — also took time to praise Curry's efforts in the gold-medal game.
