Dodgers star hurler could reportedly demand 'nine-figure deal' this offseason

The Los Angeles Dodgers are ecstatic about their newly acquired starter.

Jack Flaherty is 2-0 with a 3.09 ERA and 17 strikeouts since joining the Dodgers on July 30.

Los Angeles feels that Flaherty makes its rotation World Series-worthy, so long as Clayton Kershaw can get back on track by then.

Whether or not Flaherty will be on the Dodgers past this season is another matter entirely, however.

If Los Angeles does envision keeping Flaherty long-term, it'll have to spend handsomely.

Flaherty is likely to demand a nine-figure contract this offseason on the free agent market, a new report from Bleacher Report's Kerry Miller asserts.

"Flaherty has been nothing short of dominant this season, with marks nearly identical to what Corbin Burnes put up in 2022, or what Flaherty himself accomplished back in 2019," Miller said.

"Unless he crashes and burns down the stretch with the Dodgers or unless the medical history becomes a major problem this winter, Flaherty might sign the largest contract this offseason among pitchers not named Burnes. A nine-figure deal is a very real possibility here."

Flaherty's health issues flared up in the media around the deadline when it was reported that the New York Yankees backed out of trade discussions for Flaherty for medical reasons.

Such rumblings have all but disappeared since Flaherty has looked flawless with the Dodgers.
