Jamie Carragher begs Liverpool to sign ‘frightening’ England star who once played for Everton

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has called on his former club to make a move for Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon.

The 22-year-old, who once played for Everton, has impressed Carragher with his electrifying pace and could bring a new dimension to Liverpool’s attack.

As Liverpool prepares for the new Premier League season under new head coach Arne Slot, they have yet to add any new signings to their squad.

With the transfer window still open, Carragher believes Gordon would be a perfect addition, especially considering Liverpool’s need for speed in their forward line.

Carragher Praises Gordon’s Pace

Carragher highlighted Gordon’s blistering speed as a key reason for Liverpool to pursue him. He pointed out that Liverpool’s current attackers, while talented, lack the pace that Gordon could offer.

“I think Anthony Gordon’s pace is frightening,” Carragher said. “You know when you’re watching a game on TV and you go, ‘Wow!’, and you just see someone leave a full-back. That’s what I think he could add if he was to come in.”

The former Liverpool defender also mentioned that Gordon could potentially fill the void left by Sadio Mane, whose departure has left Liverpool without a player capable of consistently outrunning defenders.

Carragher noted that Mohamed Salah, though still quick, doesn’t possess the same speed he once had, making Gordon an attractive option.

Carragher also touched on the possibility of a swap deal involving Joe Gomez and Anthony Gordon, stating that Gomez might be looking for more first-team football, which he may not get at Liverpool. “If there was still something in that between now and the end of the window, that’s something I would be really interested in us doing,” Carragher added.

While Liverpool have yet to secure any new signings this summer, Carragher remains confident in the club’s transfer strategy.

He expressed his trust in the decisions being made by the football operations team, led by Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes, and believes that Liverpool will make the right moves before the transfer window closes.
