The Las Vegas Raiders are reuniting with one of their former quarterbacks, the team announced on Tuesday .

The Raiders are signing quarterback Nathan Peterman. To make room on the roster, Las Vegas waived wide receiver Keelan Doss with an injury designation. Doss was signed just last month and will likely revert back to injured reserve once he clears waivers.

Peterman appeared in two games for the Raiders from 2020 through 2021 and completed 3-of-5 passes for 25 yards in the latter campaign.

The Pittsburgh product has struggled mightily in the NFL since being a fifth-round pick of the Buffalo Bills in 2017. He's best known for tossing five interceptions in a single half during his rookie debut, which made him the first signal-caller since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger to do so.

Peterman's signing comes in the wake of third-string quarterback Anthony Brown struggling mightily in preseason Week 1. The Raiders also have rookie Carter Bradley on the roster. He only handed the ball off in the preseason opener.

The 30-year-old does already have some familiarity with Las Vegas' offense, as he played under offensive coordinator Luke Getsy in Chicago the past two seasons.

It remains to be seen if the Raiders will even carry a third quarterback behind Aidan O'Connell and Gardner Minshew, so Peterman, Brown and Bradley could just be competing for a practice squad spot.
