There was quite the injury scare at Tuesday's practice for the New York Giants regarding rookie Tyrone Tracy.

The 24-year-old running back appeared to have suffered a major injury , by most reports, during a kickoff drill. The injury was non-contact, and Tracy had to be carted off with an air cast on his leg.

As the Giants sent the rookie to the Hospital for Special Surgery, they awaited further results to come in.

Those results reportedly have given the Giants and the fanbase a glimmer of hope as they reportedly hope the injury "is not as bad as it looked," according to Jordan Raanan of ESPN .

Raanan also reported that Tracy was already back in the meeting rooms with his teammates.

Both reports were confirmed by Art Stapleton of NorthJersey.com . Meanwhile, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reported the injury is a sprain.

That's a surprising twist on what appeared to be a very serious injury for the rookie running back. Typically, an air cast leads to a major ailment so this is a pleasant surprise for the Giants.

The exact diagnosis of Tracy's injury remains unclear so the Giants may not be out of the woods yet, but it's an encouraging sign that he's already back in the meeting room.

We will provide a further update once more information is given, but the Giants may have surprisingly avoided a major injury.
