New York Jets ' starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers has seen almost everything over his 19-plus years in the National Football League.

As a result, the future Hall-of-Fame field general has valuable perspective to offer regarding the ongoing contract dispute between the Jets and edge rusher Haason Reddick, whose trade request became public on Monday .

Reddick, who was dealt to the Jets this past March, did not participate in voluntary OTAs and was a no-show for mandatory June minicamp. Now, after refusing to report to training camp, the New Jersey-born edge rusher has thrown an unexpected wrench into the situation.

"There's always new things in the league. I've been around 20 years. I've seen a lot of stuff. I think, as players, we always first try and side with the player because we know what it's like to be a player," said the 40-year-old Rodgers on Tuesday in Florham Park.

While promising to reserve judgment, Rodgers provided some advice for the highly-talented Reddick.

"Obviously, we'd love for him to be here, but we don't judge him for trying to do what's best for him. I think what's best for him is to be a Jet because this is gonna be a fun ride, but he's gotta make the best decision for him and his family," said the four-time NFL MVP.

Coming off back-to-back Pro Bowl selections, Reddick would fit nicely on the Jets' defensive front opposite Jermaine Johnson. Whether or not he ever jumps onboard remains to be seen.
