Raiders signing Nathan Peterman draws hilarious reactions from NFL fans

The Las Vegas Raiders made an addition to their quarterbacks room on Tuesday, with the team signing embattled veteran quarterback Nathan Peterman.

Peterman has already spent time with the Raiders during his career. He originally signed with the team in 2018 and appeared in two games over two seasons, with one coming in 2020 and another in 2021. He completed 3-of-5 passes for 25 yards with the Raiders in the former year but didn't record any stats in 2021.

Peterman was a fifth-round pick of the Buffalo Bills in 2017 and became notorious after he threw five interceptions in a single half in his NFL debut that season. He was the first player since the AFL-NFL merger in 1970 to accomplish that feat.

The signing of Peterman comes after the Raiders saw a dreadful performance from the No. 3 quarterback on their depth chart , Anthony Brown, in the preseason Week 1 game last week. Along with Brown, Las Vegas also has Gardner Minshew, Aidan O'Connell and rookie Carter Bradley on the roster.

We'll see if the Raiders end up carrying a third quarterback on their roster, but if not, Peterman, Brown and Bradley will compete for a spot on the practice squad, assuming Las Vegas doesn't bring anyone else in.

Peterman already has some familiarity with the Raiders' offense, as he played under Las Vegas' current offensive coordinator, Luke Getsy, during their days together with the Chicago Bears .

We could see Peterman in action as soon as this week, when the Raiders play their second preseason game on Saturday versus the Dallas Cowboys .

Here's a look at how social media reacted to Peterman's return to the NFL.
