New York Yankee s star infielder Jazz Chisholm got the type of injury update the team was hoping to avoid.

The 26-year-old third baseman is likely headed for a stint on the injured list after further tests revealed a UCL injury in his left elbow following his exit during Monday night's embarrassing loss against the Chicago White Sox.

The team is still attempting to determine the severity of the injury and whether surgery is necessary, according to manager Aaron Boone on Tuesday. .

Despite Chisholm not being overly concerned about the injury following Monday night's game, it seems further tests revealed a bigger issue than initially thought.

“I’m not super concerned about it,” Chisholm said after the gam e. “All the tests we’ve done in here have been pretty positive. I still feel it a little bit, still kind of sore, but I think we’re going to be good.”

The 26-year-old singled in the top of the fifth inning and stole second base. As he attempted to steal third, Anthony Volpe hit a ground ball deep in the hole at shortstop.

Chisholm didn't hesitate as he rounded third base, narrowly beating the throw home to score from second base on a rare infield single.

However, his left elbow took the brunt of the tag from catcher Korey Lee, and it was clearly bothering him after everything had settled down.

In the 14 games since the trade, Chisholm is slashing .316/.361/.702 with a 189 OPS+, seven home runs, 11 RBI and five stolen bases in 61 plate appearances.

Chisholm brought a much-needed energy to go along with speed, power and athleticism, which makes this injury even more vital for the Yankees.
