Can the Patriots get a trade done with the QB-needy Vikings?

The New England Patriots brought in three new quarterbacks this offseason, signing Jacoby Brissett and drafting Drake Maye and Joe Milton III.

That trio, along with Bailey Zappe, makes up the current Patriots quarterback room. However, Zappe, as the only returning quarterback from 2023, feels like the least likely to make the roster in 2024.

If Brissett, Maye and Milton are the three quarterbacks who New England is leaning toward keeping, they should call up the Minnesota Vikings.

Minnesota spent their first-round pick in this year's draft on Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy, who suffered a torn meniscus and will miss some significant time. How much time will depend on how bad the injury is, and they won't know until the surgery is done.

While they still have Sam Darnold, Nick Mullens and Jaren Hall on their roster at the position, they may be looking for another quarterback with starting experience, considering none of their current options have been very successful.

New England could offer Zappe for a conditional draft pick. Minnesota could give the Patriots a seventh-round selection if he makes the roster that could turn into a sixth depending on playing time.

This would give New England something back for the quarterback instead of just losing him if they cut him at the end of the month, and the Vikings could add another quarterback with some starting experience to help fill in until McCarthy's ready to go.

Of course, Minnesota could just say they're fine with their three guys because Zappe hasn't had much success either, as he led the Patriots to a 4-4 record in his eight starts and has completed just 63.2% of his passes for 2,053 yards with 11 touchdowns, 12 interceptions and 78.5 passer rating.

It's worth a shot though for New England to make the call.
