Hall of Fame pitcher surprisingly says, 'I still believe in the Braves'

After a soul-crushing defeat on Sunday, the Atlanta Braves have displayed championship-level resilience this week.

Atlanta relinquished an 8-2 lead in the eighth inning versus the Colorado Rockies on Sunday, resulting in a gut-wrenching loss that some analysts speculated would be the nail in the coffin of the Braves' season.

Not everyone agreed with such a verdict, however, as Hall of Fame hurler Pedro Martínez appeared on Bleacher Report's "Walk-Off" segment and endorsed Atlanta.

"I still believe in the Braves," Martínez said when asked about their Colorado collapse.

Martínez's faith has been rewarded this week, as Atlanta has bounced back admirably from Sunday's loss and won two straight, extra-inning duels at Oracle Park versus the San Francisco Giants.

Catcher Travis d'Arnaud played the role of hero on both nights, delivering back-to-back game-winning RBIs for the Braves.

Atlanta is back in playoff position (third spot in the National League Wild Card) entering Wednesday, despite having lost seven of its last ten.

The Braves have been assaulted with injuries this year, and it's a testament to their overall organizational strength that they're still in contention. Manager Brian Snitker deserves a lot of credit for keeping Atlanta afloat amid all of the debilitating roster losses.
