Jets disgruntled star surprisingly traded to Bears in proposed blockbuster

The Chicago Bears are one pass rusher away from having a truly dangerous defense.

Chicago's head coach Matt Eberflus acknowledged the Bears' need for a playmaker opposite Montez Sweat in an interview with CBS Sports, during which Eberflus may have also mistakenly hinted at Chicago's plans for a trade.

"(Sweat) demands attention," Eberflus said, per CBS. "So that helps free up the other rushers. And that is so important to be able to do that, to have a guy like that. When you can have two, that’s what we’re searching to do here coming forward."

Did Eberflus say that the Bears are searching for another pass rusher, presumably on the trade market? It wasn't explicit, but some -- including Bleacher Nation's Luis C. Medina -- believe that Eberflus accidentally revealed Chicago's trade aspirations.

While Medina explored the possibility that Eberflus was referring to an internal search for a pass rusher (specifically, Austin Booker, who has excelled this summer), Medina ultimately landed on the premise that the Bears are shopping around for an elite D-end.

"The other place (outside of Booker) my mind goes is to a place where I believe that Eberflus 100 percent slipped up here," Medina said.

"If you squint, maybe you can talk yourself into capturing a moment in which the coach realizes that he said something he shouldn’t have in real-time. So if you want to believe that the Bears are still on the prowl for a big swing acquisition at defensive end (Haason Reddick? Matthew Judon?) then your brain probably goes here."

Could Chicago pull off a trade for Reddick, rescuing him from an unhappy situation in New York? Anything is possible on the NFL trade market.
