It is a tremendous honor and achievement to receive College Football's Heisman Trophy Award. Since 1935, there has only been 88 recipients, but only one person has ever gotten it twice: Archie Griffin .

Born and bred in Columbus, Ohio, Archie attended Eastmoor High School and would later go on to attend The Ohio State University. It is here where it only took him until his second game to rush for the then-school record of 239 yards in a win against North Carolina.

During his sophomore year, Archie received the Chicago Tribune Silver Football Award, where he was named the most valuable player in the Big Ten Conference .

The following year, in 1974, Archie became the fifth junior at the time to win the Heisman Trophy , rushing for over 1,600 yards and 12 touchdowns.

But it was in the 1975 season during his senior year where Archie made College Football history. Rushing for 1,357 yards and seven touchdowns, Archie helped lead the Buckeyes to a number one ranking, an 11-0 record, and a Big Ten title. It was with this historical resume that he was awarded his second Heisman Trophy, the first and only player to do so.

Now, 50 years later, Archie is being celebrated for his accomplishments and contributions throughout the 2024 season. On Saturday, August 17, his statue will be unveiled in Pasadena, CA at the Rose Bowl Stadium.
