The Seattle Seahawks finally got to practice against a live opponent today, and it was in an environment far more competitive than the NFL preseason "matchup" we were treated to on Saturday night between the backups of Seattle and the Los Angeles Chargers.

The first thing to know about today's joint practice was that rookie defensive lineman Byron Murphy II was dominant , both during the one-on-one pass rush drills against the Tennessee Titans and during the 11-on-11 periods. We also got to hear plenty from former Seahawks strong safety Jamal Adams , who did alot of his usual trash-talking during practice.

After it was over, the media got to speak with head coach Mike Macdonald and starting quarterback Geno Smith . Here's their assessment of today's practice, beginning with Macdonald, who liked what he saw up front but not so much on the back end.

Later, franchise QB Geno Smith offered his take on how the offense performed and what it was like to face a couple of his former teammates.

The Seahawks will practice against the Titans again tomorrow morning and then face them on Saturday night in their second preseason game of the year.
