Pedri passes final fitness test ahead of Barcelona's La Liga season start

Barcelona star Pedri is expected to feature in their La Liga opener at Valencia on August 17.

The Spanish international saw his Euro 2024 campaign cut short by a knee injury with his preseason dominated by rehabilitation.

Hansi Flick opted to leave the 21-year-old in Catalonia, as Barcelona headed off for a preseason tour of the USA, and the decision has yielded a positive result.

Pedri has regularly stated his confidence of remaining on schedule in his recovery with the chance for a slightly earlier comeback date.

As per the latest update from Mundo Deportivo , Pedri has completed successive group training sessions, to pass Flick's final test ahead of the trip to the Estadio Mestalla.

However, after not featuring during preseason, Flick is expected to keep Pedri on the bench from the start, alongside new signing Dani Olmo.

A late decision will be made on Lamine Yamal's involvement against Los Che following a shocking incident involving his father being stabbed in Mataro, near Barcelona.

With Flick still easing certain players back into his plans, following extended Euro 2024 breaks, La Masia duo Marc Bernal and Marc Casado could start in midfield with Frenkie de Jong still sidelined.
