Chelsea could be preparing to make a surprise move late in the transfer window by launching a bid for Jadon Sancho, potentially involving a combination of cash and two academy players.

According to German outlet Fussball News, Chelsea, who have already spent well over $150m this summer, are looking at offering two of their academy players along with a significant cash sum to secure Sancho’s signature.

The Blues are also considering a loan deal with an obligation to buy, during which they would cover Sancho’s wages.

    What next for Sancho?

At the age of 24, Sancho finds his future at Manchester United uncertain despite being 'welcomed' back into the squad by Erik ten Hag this summer after a public fallout with the manager last season.

Should the deal go through, Sancho would become Chelsea's 10th signing of the summer along with notable signings like Pedro Neto and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

PSG have also been linked to making an offer for Sancho throughout this transfer window, however, there is yet to be anything concrete to suggest they are serious about a deal.

Sancho's return was a nightmare as he missed a penalty in the Community Shield vs. Manchester City. It was his first game back after his loan spell at Borussia Dortmund, where he lost the Champions League final at the same stadium in May.

Reflecting on Sancho's return, Ten Hag said over the summer: "We had a good conversation. Everyone can make mistakes, but if a player reflects and learns, it's time to move forward.

"This club needs quality players, and Jadon Sancho is certainly one of them. I hope we can find our rhythm together, and he can contribute to our success."
