There was zero chance of such a venture ever happening, at least to this degree, between competing professional wrestling promotions when Vince McMahon ran the show at WWE, but Paul “Triple H” Levesque and one of his closest friends, Shawn “Heartbreak Kid” Michaels, have broken the mold with how WWE and NXT have partnered with TNA.

Though still very much in its infancy, the partnership has yielded sensational matches in 2024 that include a PLE title bout between two champs (Jordynne Grace and Roxanne Perez), the emergence of Joe Hendry as a worldwide superstar and even The Rascalz and Wes Lee’s heel turn have gotten in on that action.

Michaels is pleased, to say the least.

"I think we are still in the very beginning stages of that, exploring the different possibilities, and those are all things we're going to look at going forward,” the Heartbreak Kid told Iridian Fierro of WGN Radio, via Fightful . “I'm obviously very pleased to know that these are partnerships that WWE is now open to, and I think that makes for unlimited possibilities.

“Now, what the specifics of all of those are as we go into the future, that'll be decided by people certainly more important than me."

It’s arguable that there are people more important than Michaels when looking at what he’s been able to turn the Black and Gold brand into. It’s routinely a must-watch and for several weeks leading into Summerslam, it was wiping the floor with most of what the Blue brand had to offer.

And, to be honest, Michaels (and Booker T.) achieved heightened success before they entered into any sort of agreement with TNA — dominating based upon the development of their own homegrown talent.

Now, well, it’s up up and away for NXT … and for TNA … as both hands wash each other.
