Damian Priest has a WWE documentary that is now live and definitely worth a watch, as it details all he overcame to become not only a viable superstar for the promotion but, ultimately, a heavyweight champion as well; and a lot of it was thanks to the mentorship of Hall of Fame superstar Edge.

Edge is the founder of Judgment Day and his first recruit was Priest, propelling the latter into the limelight, instantly, before then bringing in Rhea Ripley to the faction and helping her star power in much the same fashion.

The two would end up betraying Edge before taking over the faction themselves, but that was purely kayfabe because, if it were up to them, that plot twist would’ve never happened.

"We’d just had a major moment joining together forming The Judgment Day,”  Priest told Sports Illustrated, via Fightful . “It felt like no time had passed, and then it was Edge who told me that he was being taken out of the group. He waited to tell me after TV one night when we were on the road.”

It was at that moment that Priest’s heart sunk into his stomach.

After all, it was Edge that made Judgement Day what it was and, from the fans’ perspective, was also the one who most defined it. So when Edge was removed from it by WWE, Priest thought his career was literally over.

As such, Priest truly thought the WWE was about to send him packing.

“I thought we were done,” he explained. “I was so upset. When Rhea found out, she was even more mad than me. Edge was mad, too. I still speak with him — he was one of our biggest backers.  When he told me, I remember him saying, ‘All of this, for nothing.’ And I repeated that: for nothing. That’s the way it felt at the time.

“I was waiting for the phone call to get released. Obviously, it worked out a lot differently.”

    Much, much differently, indeed.

Priest and Ripley, dubbed the “Terror Twins” are now locked in a war against Liv Morgan’s version of Judgement Day, a massive plot twist when you consider Morgan and Finn Balor once attempted to take down Edge’s version of the faction that included Priest and Ripley.

Priest is just thankful he’s still around to be a part of one of the biggest storylines in professional wrestling.
