Why Quandre Diggs was never going to return to the Seattle Seahawks after his release

The Seattle Seahawks did more than turnover their coaching staff this offseason. They also blew up the back end of their defense, allowing inside linebackers Bobby Wagner and Jordyn Brooks to walk in free agency and cutting both starting safeties Quandre Diggs and Jamal Adams for cap savings. While nobody was sad to see Adams go, Diggs was a fan favorite, having made the Pro Bowl three straight years prior to his down-season in 2023.

Many fans had hoped Diggs might return on a new contract, but apparently that was never in the cards and he wound up signing with the Tennessee Titans . Here's how Diggs responded when he was asked whether there was a chance he would return to Seattle, according to Mike Dugar at the Athletic.

Diggs is now 31 years old and has been in the league since the 2015 season after getting drafted by the Detroit Lions out of Texas . He was good enough the previous few years to think he still has something left in the tank, but if he doesn't bounce back strong this season with the Titans he may find his career winding down soon after.

When it's time it will be interesting to see where Diggs decides to retire. He spent an equal amount of time with the Lions (five seasons) but he had more success with the Seahawks. Until somebody better comes along, his legacy will be as the best free safety in franchise history not named Earl Thomas.
