WWE Rumor Mill: Freebird rule might apply to Tag Team Titles for Solo Sikoa, Bloodline

Things aren’t looking great for Solo Sikoa and the Bloodline right now. They’ve enjoyed weeks of executing a brutal coup of Roman Reigns and, in the process, nearly toppled WWE Champion Cody Rhodes while successfully throwing Paul Heyman into hiding — so forth and so on — but Reigns’ return at Summerslam changed everything.

That said, the faction still owns some gold, namely the WWE Tag Team Championships that rest on the shoulders of Tonga Loa and Tama Tonga, and now comes an interesting twist to their newborn title reign that was birthed by their victory over DIY ahead of Summerslam.

They might not have to defend it, at least not as the Tongans every single time.

If what the Wrestling Observer Network is reporting is true, Sikoa might have some laughs coming in the near future:

“Regarding the tag team titles, the current word from WWE is that the titles can be defended by any two people from the Bloodline that Solo Sikoa selects."

This isn’t a clause that the WWE rarely deploys, considering it creates a scenario wherein contenders are fighting for the belts against someone who didn’t win it in the first place; but there’s also a bit of a problem with this plan, at least at the moment.

Jacob Fatu is injured and not scheduled to return before the “Bash in Berlin” premium live event on Aug. 31, if then, and that leaves only three in the Bloodline, barring a new addition (like Hikuleo, though it’s unknown if he will serve as Reigns’ muscle and not Sikoa’s).

It would allow Sikoa to team with a Tongan to try and ensure the belts remain in the Bloodline though, but his win-loss record isn’t exactly one that guarantees gold retention.

Either way, keep your eyes peeled for this to potentially be a thing over the next several weeks on SmackDown, and maybe even a PLE to come.
