Bills roster battle: Who's on the bubble leading into Week 2 of the preseason vs. Steelers

The Buffalo Bills have multiple position battles going on heading into Week 2 of the preseason. This leaves several players on the bubble and on the fringe of making the roster of being cut. These players in particular are bubble names to watch against the Steelers.

    WR Tyrell Shavers

Shavers became a dark horse candidate to make the roster after having a solid training camp. However, he only had one catch against the Chicago Bears. With that said, Chase Claypool was released after going on IR with a toe injury, opening up opportunities for other receivers. If he has a good performance against Pittsburgh, it would go a long way toward earning the final receiver spot on the depth chart.

    LB Joe Andreessen

Andreessen played his college ball at the University of Buffalo and is somewhat of a fan favorite. The undrafted rookie had four tackles against the Bears, and looked like someone who could be a serviceable rotational linebacker. With Matt Milano out indefinitely, Andreessen could play himself onto the roster if he stacks impressive performances.

    QB Mitch Trubisky

Trubisky did not play well against the Bears, to say the least. He sent a would-be touchdown into the fourth row on a pass down the seam intended for Quintin Morris. He finished 10-of-18 for 82 yards and didn’t look much like a competent backup whatsoever. If he struggles again, the Bills very well could go out and try to acquire a better option to backup Josh Allen.
