The Los Angeles Dodgers have lost another All-Star to the injured list, this time a starting pitcher.

As Los Angeles looks to keep its narrow, two-game lead in the National League West (entering Friday) over the surging Arizona Diamondbacks and San Diego Padres, the Dodgers need their pitching staff to string together dominant outings.

That’s going to be more difficult for the rest of August, as 30-year-old hurler Tyler Glasnow is headed to the IL with elbow tendinitis, as reported by MLB.com ’s John Denton on Friday.

“Dodgers place RHP Tyler Glasnow on the 15-day Injured List,” Denton said. “He was slated to start on Saturday night against the (St. Louis Cardinals) at Busch Stadium.”

The Athletic’s Fabian Ardaya corroborated Denton’s report and specified the ailment Glasnow is suffering from at the moment.

“Tyler Glasnow is going on the IL with right elbow tendinitis,” Ardaya said.

Glasnow, a first-time All-Star in 2024, is 9-5 this season for Los Angeles with a 3.49 ERA and 168 strikeouts in 134 innings pitched.

With Glasnow out for at least a couple of weeks, the Dodgers will need Jack Flaherty to keep pitching well and Clayton Kershaw to get back into form sooner rather than later.

As of now, the NL West crown is very much up for grabs.
