Bengals' Ja'Marr Chase leads receivers on NFL All-Under-25 team

Joe Burrow's favorite target, Cincinnati Bengals' wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase, leads all receivers on CBS Sports' NFL All-Under-25 team . In three seasons, Chase has 268 receptions for 3,717 yards and 29 touchdowns.  His best season was his rookie year, 2021.  His productivity in 2023 was negatively impacted by Joe Burrow 's injury which caused Burrow to miss seven games.  Chase has been a Pro Bowler every season of his NFL career.

The big story with Chase this offseason is a contractual one. Chase has a "hold-in" situation going with the Bengals as he awaits a contract extension.  He is present at practice and sometimes seems to be in a coaching role.

Sports Illustrated 's Albert Breer believes there is not a huge element of urgency for Chase to get a new deal.  He is likely waiting to see how the dust settles for two of his high-profile peers who are also not practicing with their teams, San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk and Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb.

Chase will be a free agent in 2025. Presumably, he takes the field this season, and if he has a great year with a healthy Joe Burrow, his asking price will increase.  That could be a reason for the Bengals to get something done before Week 1.

No one is worried about Chase not getting reps at camp because he and Burrow have great chemistry which requires minimal time and practice to tune up.
