The Los Angeles Dodgers made the biggest move of the offseason last year and it certainly is paying off.

Los Angeles handed out the largest -- and most complex -- contract in Major League Baseball history as it signed two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani in free agency. Some wondered how Ohtani would look in 2024 because he is coming off a tough injury and is unable to pitch this season.

He has been nothing short of fantastic.

Ohtani is having arguably the best offensive season of his career and currently leads the National League in home runs with 38, runs with 93, slugging percentage at .611, and OPS at .990.

He also has been an absolute terror on the base paths for opposing teams and is "on pace" to join the 40-40 club in the fewest games of any player in history, according to USA Today Sport's Bob Nightengale.

"Shohei Ohtani is on pace to join the 40-40 club in the fewest games of any player in history," Nightengale said. "He has 38 homers and 37 stolen bases through the Dodgers’ 121 games entering (Sunday). The quickest to the 40-40 club was Alfonso Soriano in 2006 in the Washington Nationals’ 148th game."

Ohtani really can do it all and somehow has been able to surpass expectations this year for the Dodgers. Los Angeles has a real chance to win the World Series this year and Ohtani certainly is one of the biggest reasons why.
