Blue Jays 'expected' to entertain trade offers for superstar, per insider

The Toronto Blue Jays will have a tough decision to make.

Toronto has had a disastrous 2024 season despite high expectations heading into the campaign. The Blue Jays were expected to be one of the top teams in the American League but were never able to truly get their footing.

The Blue Jays ended up being sellers ahead of the 2024 Major League Baseball trade deadline but opted to hang on to star shortstop Bo Bichette, despite trade rumors. This could end up changing, though, as Toronto reportedly will "entertain" offers for him this upcoming offseason, according to USA Today Sports' Bob Nightengale.

"The Toronto Blue Jays are expected to entertain trade offers this winter for shortstop Bo Bichette, who has no plans to stay in Toronto once he’s a free agent after the 2025 season," Nightengale said.

Bichette -- like much of Toronto -- is having a down year. While this is the case, he still likely will have a large trade market and is considered to be one of the top shortstops in baseball. The two-time All-Star led the American League in hits in both 2021 and 2022 and is a bounce-back candidate for the 2024 campaign.

Don't be surprised if he ends up getting moved at some point this winter. There likely will be plenty of star power on the move and it sounds like Bichette is one of the most likely players who could be traded.
