Denver Broncos players who desperately need to make plays against Packers

    By Travis Wakeman,

The Denver Broncos will take on the Green Bay Packers in a nationally televised preseason game on Sunday night. Though the top headline will be that Bo Nix is making his first start, it is still the preseason and that means many players are still looking to make an impression.

After three weeks of training camp and one preseason game, Sean Payton likely has a pretty good idea of who is going to make up the 53-man roster. But things can still change, and making some plays against the Packers would help each of these players.

Preseason games often lack excitement, but there is a very good reason the games are played. Broncos fans should keep tabs on these players in this game.

    Troy Franklin, WR

Despite the chatter that is out there on social media, the Broncos are not going to cut Troy Franklin. However, his summer has been quiet and his progression has been slow.

Among the best things that the Broncos could see for him to show why the team moved up in the draft to get him would be to make some big catches in this game.

    Zach Wilson, QB

As Nix starts to get a firm grip on the starting job, the focus will turn to who the backup will be. Jarrett Stidham likely has an insurmountable lead in that race but Wilson could convince the Broncos that a might be a good idea to keep all three QBs.

If not, maybe he does enough to convince a quarterback-strapped team to approach the Broncos about a trade.

    Greg Dulcich, TE

It's a great sign to see Greg Dulcich in uniform and on the field. Now it's time to see him be the player he was before injuries threatened to derail his career.

Dulcich caught one pass for five yards in the first preseason game. It would be great to see him make a couple of grabs and perhaps have a nice run after the catch in this one.

    JL Skinner, S

There is an opportunity just waiting to be had at the safety position on this team.

Brandon Jones was finally able to return to practice but it remains to be seen if, or how much he will play against Green Bay. Delarrin Turner-Yell remains out, opening the door for a player like JL Skinner to step up and seize a better standing within the roster.
