Boston Red Sox outfielder Rob Refsnyder is considering hanging it up or returning for his 10th MLB season , per Pete Abraham .

Refsnyder has been with the Sox for three seasons, and during that time he had a batting average of .282, 14 homers, and 81 RBI. This season is the third of the three, and he is averaging .296 with half of his home runs coming from this season.

Refsnyder will be 34 after this season, and that is a decent age to retire in the MLB, especially for an outfielder, who have to move great distances very quickly. The Red Sox farm also has another outfielder almost ready to come up, so if Refsnyder decides to walk away from baseball, his replacement is ready.

However, it would be a shame to see him go. He has been a great pinch hitter and utility man for the Sox, and he definitely has a lot of baseball left in him. He actually hit his seventh home run today in the 4-2 loss against the Baltimore Orioles.

Hopefully he decides to at least go one more year to have a decade in the MLB. Most MLB players don’t survive that long, so it is a testament to his skill.
