Manchester United will not revive their transfer interest in Brentford striker Ivan Toney as the England international faces a call on his Premier League future.

Thomas Frank confirmed Toney was omitted from their opening EPL game of the 2024/25 campaign , as the Bess secured a 2-1  win over Crystal Palace, amid transfer speculation on his future.

Toney is into the final year of his Brentford contract, and despite Frank previously hinting at his confidence of retaining his talisman . he could move on before the EPL transfer window closes on August 30.

Ivan Toney transfer latest: Saudi Pro League offers

Toney has been linked with a move to another Premier League side across the last 12 months after scoring 20 EPL goals in the 2022/23 season.

The Red Devils were tipped to make an offer, but Erik ten Hag pursued other targets, with Joshua Zirkzee joining from Bologna in a £35.8/$45.6m deal.

Toney was suspended for half of the 2023/24 campaign, after being found guilty of breaking FA rules regarding betting , but interest in him remained strong.

Frank has insisted an exit is 'not close' with the club working hard to retain the 28-year-old beyond the transfer window.

BBC Sport have indicated Brentford turned down a £35m ($45m) bid from Saudi side Al-Ahli last week with transfer expert Ben Jacobs reporting an improved £50m ($65m) will be made in the coming days.

That figure is closer to Brentford's expectation with the final call coming down to Toney over whether he wants to remain in Europe.
