Best season win total bets to make on Falcons, Steelers, and Patriots

These are fun bets to make before the season kicks off, but your money can be tied up for a long time before the wager settles as a win or loss.

    Falcons

Atlanta finally has a quarterback that should be able to get it over the hump in the NFC South. Kirk Cousins has vowed publicly to be ready for Week 1 after recovering from an Achilles tear in Minnesota last year.

The Falcons made a big splash at QB with the addition of Cousins and Michael Penix Jr., the former Univ. of Washington product that could be a starter for some NFL teams. Atlanta also has tremendous skill-position players in RB Bijan Robinson, WR Drake London and TE Kyle Pitts.

As important, the Falcons have added major pieces on defense after LB Braden Trice and safety DeMarcco Hellams both suffered preseason injuries that will cause them to miss significant time.

Atlanta added Pro Bowl LB Matthew Judon from the Patriots and Pro Bowl safety Justin Simmons, formerly of the Broncos, to bolster its defensive unit in a big way.

    Bet: OVER 9.5

    Steelers

We've all heard multiple times that Mike Tomlin has never had a losing season as head coach of the Steelers. Tomlin, loved by many and loathed by others, has an embarrassment of riches at quarterback this season after Pittsburgh acquired Russell Wilson (Denver) and Justin Fields (Chicago).

Breakout RB Jaylen Warren suffered a hamstring injury against the Bills that will put him on the shelf for multiple weeks. But the Steelers also have great depth at the position with Najee Harris and new addition Cordarrelle Patterson.

George Pickens returns as the top wideout after producing a team-high 1,140 receiving yards last season. Pittsburgh traded Diontae Johnson to Carolina, but projected starters Van Jefferson and Calvin Austin III provide some depth in the receiving corps.

Defensively, the Steelers added a pair of potent linebackers in Patrick Queen and Payton Wilson. LB T.J. Watt is one of the betting favorites to win Defensive Player of the Year , and and DE Cameron Hayward is one of the best players in the league at his position. There's a lot to like about this team.

    Bet: OVER 7.5

    Patriots

New England will be without legendary head coach Bill Belichick for the first time since 2003, as the Jerod Mayo era officially begins this season.

Mayo's biggest decision is whether to start journeyman quarterback Jacoby Brissett or first round draft pick Drake Maye at the most important position on the field. Maye just took snaps with the starting offensive line for the first time over the weekend.

Mayo, a former linebacker, had New England's defense flying in the preseason opener against Carolina. The Pats allowed the Panthers just 151 total yards and recorded five sacks in the game.

The problem for the Patriots will come on offense. New England didn't add any difference makers in the offseason to a team that ranked 30th in the NFL with 276.2 yards of total offense per game last year. The Patriots and Panthers ranked dead last in the NFL at 13.9 points per game last season.

    Bet: UNDER 4.5
